Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR is a gold-standard, evidence-based therapy for trauma and so much more. It helps people heal from the emotional and physical symptoms that stem from adverse life experiences. EMDR works by supporting the brain’s natural ability to reprocess difficult memories so they no longer hold the same emotional charge.
I offer EMDR in standard weekly sessions and, for those ready for deeper work, half-day and full-day intensives. Intensives allow us to do more in a shorter timeframe, creating space for focused transformation without the stop-and-start of weekly therapy.

What Can EMDR Help With?
While EMDR is most well-known for treating trauma and PTSD, it is also effective for:
- Dissociative symptoms
- Performance anxiety
- Medical trauma and chronic pain
- Substance use and addiction
- Phobias and fears
- Eating disorders and body image concerns
- Grief and complicated bereavement
- Depression and anxiety
- OCD and relationship anxieties
What to Expect
EMDR is an eight-phase, structured therapy process that includes resourcing, identifying past targets, and reprocessing memories using bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements). Processing doesn’t mean talking in detail about the trauma; it means activating the brain’s innate healing system to store the memory in a more adaptive, less distressing way.
Sessions typically last 60 to 90 minutes. In early sessions, we’ll build trust, explore your history, and ensure EMDR is the right approach for you. EMDR can be:
- Integrated into ongoing talk therapy
- Used as adjunct therapy alongside another provider
- Delivered as a standalone series or in intensive format
The number of sessions depends on your unique history, needs, and goals.

“The goal of EMDR is not to forget what happened but to remember it without reliving it.”
